Siem Reap: 67YO British Susan Laycock died in a rental room.

A Britisch national died in a rental room in Siem Reap city.

In Wat Damnak village, Sala Komreuk commune, Siem Reap city/province, 150m West of the local commune police office (and) adjacent to a ditch/sewer, an incident happend on July 31 2016 at 8.35AM.
An English national died in a rental room. The local police as well as the Immigration Department immediately went to the place of the incident.
The Technical-Scientific Police belonging to the Siem Reap Provincial Police and Dr.It Chamcharit ( អ៊ិត ឆមឆរ័ត្ន), who’s a coroner of the Siem Reap Provincial Court, performed an authopsy.
Lieutenant Colonel Pheng Pech of the Technical-Scientific Police said that the victim identified as 67YO female retiree Susan Laycock died around 4AM on the same day. The victim stayed together with her son in the rental room.
Based on the conclusions of the Technical-Scientific Police and the coroner:
The victim died of a stroke/cerebral haemorrhage. The victim’s son told the police that his mother had pre-medical conditions since 20 years already. (such as hypertension and diabetes)
The body has been deposited in the rental room of the victim awaiting a decision from the embassy.

An American national died in a rental room.

Phnom Penh

An elderly American man was found dead by a friend in his room in Li Li condominium (លីលី). The victim was renting the room since 4 months ago.
The incident happend on July 31 2016 at 8.15AM in room No. 603 on the 6th floor of Li Li condominium which is located No.22, Street 197, sangkat Toumnob Tuk, khan Chamkar Mon.

The local police said that the elderly victim was identified as 70YO American tourist UNWIN GEORGE and living at the place of the incident.
Before the incident they didn’t see the victim leave his room. A foreign friend went to open the door, have a look and wake up the victim but he didn’t wake up. Then he realized that the victim already died.
The local police added that after it was discovered that the victim died alone on his bed the friend, who discovered the body, asked the responsible of the condominium to take a look (and) help and informed the police.

The victim had a pre-existing medical condition (មានជំងឺប្រចាំកាយស្រាប់) and always received treatment.

After the incident the police experts together with the local police and officials of the embassy performed an inspection and authopsy. The noticed that the victim died of his pre-existing medical condition.
The victim’s body has been deposited at the Russian Hospital awaiting the handing over the victim’s family.

Sihanoukville: 83YO Chinese Wang Rucheng drowns while swimming in the sea.

An elderly Chinese man, while swimming in the sea at Koh Tootch, sangkat Koh Rong together with his family, choked on water and died when his family pulled him from the water back on the boat to give him first help.
The incident happend on July 20 2016 around 1PM at sea at a small island in front of Koh Tootch village, sangkat Koh Rong, Sihanoukville.
The Military Police said that prior to the incident a group of Chinese tourists rented a long tail boat to bring them to the place of the incident to take a swim. While swimming and also looking coral suddenly an elderly Chinese man choked on water and sank.
The family of the victim pulled him from the water in the boat to give first help by giving CPR (ជួយធ្វើចលនាបេះដូងឲ្យ) but unfortunately moments later the victim died. (ដាច់ខ្យល់ស្លាប់)
The victim was identified as Wang Rucheng, male, 73YO (must be 83). The victim entered the Kingdom of Cambodia on July 18 2016.
The corps of the victim was sent back to the mainland by the family and transferred to the Provincial Referral Hospital to perform an autopsy (វើកោសល្សវិច្ច័យ).

Sihanoukville: 43YO Russian Vitali Iakolev dies in a motorbike accident.

A Russian man, driving a motorbike, crashed into the trailer of a container truck which is always parked along the road.

In the night of July 18 2016 at 0.30AM in front of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port which is in Village 3, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville a driver of a motorbike died on the scene of the accident.
The victim was identified as Vitaly Iakovlev, male, 43YO, Russian national, tourist.
His corps has been deposited at Eintnhan (ឥន្ទញ្ញាន) in Sangkat 3 awaiting a decision from the embassy.

Siem Reap: 57YO Japanese KAI TOSHIKI dies in the hospital.

An elder Japanese national, but born in Cambodia (ដើមកំណើតខ្មែរ), died in the Provincial Referral Hospital of Siem Reap on July 14 2016 at 2.15AM.

A source said that the victim was identified as KAI TOSHIKI, 58YO, retired, Japanese national but born as a Khmer national ( មានដើមកំណើតជាជនជាតិខ្មែរ).
He was living in Sala Kansaeng village, sangkat Svay Dangkum, Siem Reap city/province. He entered (the hospital) to receive treatment for a disease on July 13 2016 at 3PM and died on July 14 2016 at 2.15AM.

The police, in collaboration with the doctors of the hospital, confirmed that, after performing an autopsy, the victim died of chronic hypertension and severe respiratory problems. (ដោយសារជនរងគ្រោះមានជំងឺប្រចាំកាយដូចជា លើសឈាមរ៉ាំរ៉ៃ, រលាកផ្លូវដង្ហើមធ្ងន់ធ្ងរ ។)

The corps has been deposited at the Provincial Referral Hospital awaiting the Japanese embassy.

Sihanoukville: 32YO Norwegian Tor Arne Bowitz dies in the hospital.

A dead Norwegian citizen at Preah Sihanouk province.

In the morning of July 8 2016 at 10.05AM there was a case of a dead foreigner at the Provincial Referral Hospital. The victim was identified as Arne Ueland BOWITZ, male, DOB 13/02/1984, Norwegian citizen.
According to the first investigations:
The foreigner went to the Provincial Referral Hospital which is located in Group 2, Village 4, sangkat 4, Preah Sihanouk province to treat an illness on July 6 2016. He died on July 8 2016.
A doctor clarified that the victim died because he went unconscious due to a severe sugar shortage for a long period of time.
The Swedish (ស្វីសឌិន) embassy, which is located in Phnom Penh, agreed to hand over the body of the victim to YIM FUNERAL SERVICE to take and deposit the body at the morgue of (Wat) Steung Meanchey in Phnom Penh.

Kampot: 33YO British James Edward Taff and 38YO British Matthew David Jones dead.

2 foreigners died; the police is performing a biopsy on the body of one, who’s a British citizen, at Kampot city.

On July 7 2016 around 3.30PM 2 foreigners were (found) lying dead at 2 different places.
One of them, a British citizen, died at his rental store which is located South of the garden East of Phsar Kranat market, May 1 village, sangkat Kampong Kandal, Kampot city/province.
The other victim died at Sonja Kill Memorial Hospital which is located in Boeung Touk commune, Tuk Chhou district, Kampot province.
The police who performed the biopsy said that the first victim was identified as JONES MATTHEW DAVID NEVIL (must be Matthew David Neville Jones), male, 39YO. Regarding the second victim; the police didn’t perform a biopsy yet and the identity is still unknown.
There are no conclusions made regarding the cause of death yet.

British national dies of an heart attack at Happy House guesthouse.

On July 6 2016 at 5PM at room number 49 of Happy House which is located house number 169, Street 154, Group 38, Village 8, sangkat Phsar Kandal 2, khan Daun Penh a British national died of an heart attack.
The victim was identified as SYLVESTER JOHN CHARLES, male, 61YO, tourist.
On July 6 2016 at 3.30PM Phom Seyneath (ផុន សីនាថ) called the victim but he didn’t pick up the phone. He/she went upstairs to the room of the victim, opened the door and found the victim lying face down on the floor. He/she informed the police to conduct an investigation.
Following the examination of the victim’s body and (a) witness(es) at the scene of the incident the victim died of a heart attack caused by a heart disease.

Foreigner dies of a stroke/brain haemorrhage.

On July 04 2016 at 2.35AM a foreigner died at the Provincial Referral Hospital.
The victim was identified as Krivanek Ondrej, male, born on June 23 1959, Czech (ឆែក). He died of a stroke/brain haemorrhage. (according to the hospital’s death certificate)
Currently the victim’s body is deposited at the Provincial Referral Hospital awaiting a decision from the embassy.

Phnom Penh: 33YO British Martin Stephen Hale found dead at The Happy House.

A British national dies in the room of a guesthouse; cause of death still unknown.

Phnom Penh

On July 01 2016 at 3.30PM 2 victims were lying in room number 49 on the fisrt floor of house number 151 (Happy House Guesthouse) which is located in Village 7, Group 28, Street 19, sangkat Chey Chomneah, khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
Among the 2 persons (lying in the room) one person identified as HALE MARTIN STEPHEN, British national, male, 34YO, was dead.
A second victim identified as MCWILLIAMS DEAN WILLIAM, male, 20YO and cousin of the deceased (currently) stays at the IC-unit of Calmette hospital (he couldn’t be questioned yet).
Both were staying in the same room of the guesthouse where the incident happend. The cause (of the incident) is still not known.
Currently the Technical and Scientific department (of the police) and a coroner of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court are conducting a forensic examination and assume that the deceased died of a heart attack because/caused by use of a morphine substance.
The corps has been deposited at the Russian Hospital awaiting the funeral celebration by the victim’s family.
