Overstaying foreigner sent to the Department (of Immigration)
Kampot
In the afternoon of January 27 2016 the Provincial Police of Kampot sent a foreigner to the Immigration Department for almost 3 years overstaying.
Officers of the Immigration Department belonging to the Provincial Police told that on January 26 2016 while they were conducting searches in Phum Kampong Baay North (កំពង់បាយខាងជើង), Sangkat Kampong Baay, Krong Kampot, the police found a foreigner who was overstaying for almost 3 years.
After filing the case the foreigner will be sent to the General Department of Immigration belonging to the Ministry of Interior to take a decision since this is beyond the provincial level.
The foreigner was identified as Klaas Nieuwhof, 47 years old, Dutch national.

Elderly American man dies in a guesthouse from an heart attack.
Phnom Penh
An elderly American man was found dead at 0.30AM past midnight on January 25 2016 in the guesthouse Loon Star Loun (ឡូន ស្តារលូន) located Number 30, Street 23, Phum 8, Sangkat Chey Chumneas (ជ័យជំនេះ), Khan Daun Penh (ដូនពេញ).
Authorities identified him as Cedward Breueallan, male, 73 years old, tourist, passport number XXXXXXXXXX, staying in the guesthouse where he was found dead.
His wife was identified as Limin, 42 years old. She told the authorities that they were married in 2005 in China. After they were married her husband had already physical problems (hearth disease) for which he was taking medicines.
She added that she always came as a tourist to Cambodia and on December 12 2015 she and her husband visited the country once more. They stayed in the guesthouse (where the incident happened) from their arrival (in the country) till the moment of the incident.
Suddenly her husband told her that he didn’t feel well. He suffered heartburn and pain under his bellybutton. The wife left to buy medicines for her husband but (after taking the medicines) the condition of the victim didn’t improve so she also called some friends of her husband but they were not reachable (?) (លើ)
Than she informed the owner of the guesthouse to come help with with CPR and call an ambulance from Calmette Hospital to bring him to the hospital but when the doctor arrived he told (her) that the victim already died.
A biopsy (executed by the Municipal Court of Phnom Penh) showed that the victim died of an heart attack.
Currently the body is at Stung Meanchey pagoda.

At 1.10PM on January 20 2016 a foreigner attempted to commit suicide by jumping from a building behind Norodom School.
Authorities intervened on time.
They concluded that the foreigner was under influence of drugs/medicines.

An Indian national committed suicide in his rental house located in Group 5.
Battambang
On January 19 at 3.20PM in a rental house located in Group 5, Phum Baek Chas Thmey (បែកចានថ្មី), Sangkat Prey Praek Preah Steetch (ព្រែកព្រះស្តេច), Krong/Province Battambang there was a case of suicide by hanging.
The victim was identified as RRAI Na ANOOP, male, 51 years old, Indian national, living in the rental house where the incident occurred. It’s not clear why he committed suicide. The victim was already living 5 years in Cambodia. He was a seller of rice (លក់បាយ) (brand Dubai Coffee).
The victim has a 26 years old wife (according to the address not living with him).
According to his wife: when she arrived at the house of the victim she found her husband hanging. She called the neighbors to help but the victim already died.
The authorities concluded that the victim really died because of suicide by hanging. It wasn’t a murder.
Currently the body is kept at the Provincial Emergency Hospital awaiting instructions from the Indian embassy.

The body of an elderly Canadian man was found sitting against a bathtub around 11AM on January 18 2016. The victim was found in room D1 of Marina Hotel, located in Group 27, Phum 3, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.
The victim was identified as RUSSELL GERALD WALTER, male, Canadian national, born on 18/01/1947, 69 years old, passport number GBXXXXXX valid until 30/12/2015.
The cause of death is still unknown.
Currently the body is stil at the scene awaiting the police and a doctor to do an examination.
The owner of Boutique (Hotel) Billina dies from fainting/exhaustion along the street while doing a motorbike-trekking with his customers.
The incident happened when the group was visiting Beng Meleas Temple.
The incident/accident happened along National Road 6.
According to the Provincial Immigration Police:
The victim is Murry Andrew David, 51 years old, owner of Boutique Billina, located in Phum Slok Raam, Sangkat Slok Raam, Siem Reap City. Entered Cambodia on 02/12/2015 till 01/01/2017.
At the day of the accident, according to witnesses, the victim was driving a dirt bike with no license plates and guiding a group of customers to Beng Meleas Temple in Svay Leu district. On their way back suddenly the victim fell from his bike without anyone else touching him.
A medical examination showed that the victim really fell from his motorbike by himself. The body doesn’t show any injuries. The victim died from exhaustion.
Currently the corpse is kept at the Royal Angkor International Hospital awaiting the embassy to overhand it to the family.

The police sends 2 foreigners to the court in a case of theft with violence.
Kampot
This happened in the morning of January 2016. The 2 suspects are:
1. Deet Khem Rindi (ដេត ខេមរិនឌី), also called Chok, 33 years old, occupation not clear, living in Phum Twi Khaang Cheung (ទ្វីខាងជើង), Sangkat Ondoong Khmer (អណ្តូងខ្មែរ), Kampot District/Province.
2. Hiang Chaiya (ហ៊ាង ឆៃយ៉ា), 19 years old, living in Phum Twi Khaang Cheung (ទ្វីខាងជើង), Sangkat Ondoong Khmer (អណ្តូងខ្មែរ), Kampot District/Province.
The victim was identified as Johnny Marcel Soluas (ចូ អានីម៉ាស់ សិលសលួស), male, 65 years old and living in a rental house in Phum Twi Khaang Cheung (ទ្វីខាងជើង), Sangkat Ondoong Khmer (អណ្តូងខ្មែរ), Kampot District/Province.
According to the authorities at 0.15AM on January 11 2016 the first suspect covered the light at the gate with his T-shirt. He cut the fences with his pliers and walked to the house. He entered the house, took a stick and attacked the victim, who was looking television alone, from behind which resulted in serious head injuries. The victim screamed and fled to the kitchen at the backside (of the house). At that moment the suspect thought that the suspect wanted to take a knife so he also fled without stealing anything.
At 7.40AM on January 11 2016 the municipal police arrested the suspect at his house. They questioned him and around 1.30PM the same day they summoned another suspect for questioning and also arrested him.
Both suspects were referred to the court.
