A Korean national succumbed on her way to the Royal Angkor International Hospital (RAIH).

Siem Reap

In the evening/night of October 13 2016 a Korean national died on het way to the RAIH to be rescued.
The police and doctors examined the victim’s corpse and concluded that the victim died of a heart attack because the victim suffered symptoms of suffocation.

The Immigration Police identified the victim as:
YOO BOK SOON, female, 72YO, Korean, tourist, on a guided-tour.
The victim arrived in Siem Reap province on October 11 2016 on a flight from Hanoi and stayed in room No.143 of Starry Angkor Hotel which is located in Banteay Chas village, Slok Raam commune, Siem Reap city/province.

According to the older brother of the victim:
Since her arrival in Siem Reap the victim told her older brother that she didn’t feel well.
On October 12 2016 she told the tour company to take her to the RAIH to perform an examination. After the visit to the hospital she returned again to the hotel.
On October 13 2016 at 8PM the victim told her older brother once more that she was suffering symptoms of suffocation.
She was sent immediately to the RAIH but the victim died at 8.35PM on her way to the hospital.

The victim’s corpse has been deposited at the RAIH awaiting a decision from the embassy and family.

Sihanoukville: 47YO US John William Cleereman found dead along a road.

A foreigner died in sangkat 4, Sihanoukville.

On October 13 2016 at 8.30AM police experts received the news that at a place near Thnal Road, Otres area, in Group 8, Village 6, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, a foreigner died.

The victim was identified as Cleerman Jonh William, male, US national, born on 15/10/1968. The police is still searching for his (local) place of residence.

A biopsy revealed that the victim died of syncope. (heart attack)

The victim’s corpse has been deposited at the Provincial Referral Hospital.

Phnom Penh: 39YO Singaporean Tan Wee Tze Henry died at Dynsey Boutique.

A Singaporean man, who died from a heart attack, caused commotion on October 10 2016 at 9.30PM in room No.302 of Dynsey Boutique which is located No.57Eo, Street 172, Group 19, Village 5, sangkat Chey Chomneah, khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.

According to sources present at the scene:
The victim checked in on September 26 2016 at 4PM. The victim had a habit of going outside (leaving his room) at 2PM and return between 6PM and 10PM, holding a water, orange juice or beer in the hand.
On October 9 2016 (the source) didn’t see the victim come downstairs (leave his room) as usual; idem dito on October 10 2016.
They became suspicious and a staff member, identified as Chun Mab, went upstairs and knocked on the door of the victim’s room but there was no response.
He took the master key and when he planned to open the door he suddenly noticed a bad smell and realized that the victim died.

An inspection of the scene by the police revealed that the door of the victim’s room didn’t show signs of a forced entry.
The victim’s corpse was found on the bed inside the room; face up and across the bed.
His right leg touched the floor and his left leg almost touched the floor. The corpse was decomposing.
In a drawer the police found a blister pack with pills.

The victim was identified as TAN WEE TZEHENRY, male, DOB 12/10/1976, tourist, Singaporean national.

The police found traces of morphines and meth-amphetamines in the victim’s urine.

The authorities concluded that the victim died of a drug-induced heart attack.

The corpse has been deposited at Wat Steung Meanchey pagoda which is located in khan Meanchey.

Siem Reap: 59YO Filipino Alexander Manansala died on his way to the hospital.

In the morning of October 9 2016 a Filipino man, suffering from diabetes, died on his way to the Royal Angkor International Hospital which is located in Kasikam village, sangkat Srangae, Siem Reap city/province.

According to the police:
The Immigration department, the Technical and Scientific department and a coroner linked to the Provincial Court examined the victim’s corpse and concluded that the victim died of a cerebral hemorrhage and that the victim also suffered diabetes.

The Immigration Police identified the victim as 54YO (should be 59YO) Manansala Alexaber Elim, Filipino, working at a call center in Borey Prem Prey, living in Kruos village, sangkat Svay Dangkum, Siem Reap city/province, and married with Mariefarnanbo, an English language teacher.

According to the victim’s wife:
At 7Am in the morning her husband, suffering from diabetes, was in a serious condition and transported to the Provincial Referral Hospital and afterwards transported to the Royal Angkor International Hospital but he died before arrival.

Currently the victim’s corpse is laid out at the Royal Angkor International Hospital awaiting documents from the embassy and a decision.

Phnom Penh: 51YO British Philip James commits suicide in TeaHouse Asian Urban Resort.

On October 5 2016 at 11.20AM in room No.310 of TeaHouse Hotel which is located No.32, Street 242, Village 6, sangkat Chaktomouk, khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.

The victim check-in in the hotel on October 1 2016.

On October 4 2016 the victim asked the receptionist to not allow anyone to disturb him; he wanted to rest.
In the morning of October 5 2016 the cleaning staff knocked on the door of the victim’s room but there was no response. They became suspicious and took the master key. After opening the door they found the victim who hung himself by connecting a cloth with the door hinge of the bathroom.

The victim was identified as PHILIP JAMES, male, DOB 19/10/1964, tourist and staying at the room of the incident.

The police found traces of meth-amphetamines in the victim’s urine.

It was concluded that the victim died of suicide by hanging.

Phnom Penh: 63YO US Robert Owen Durkin commits suicide in Tonle Sab Guesthouse.

The incident happend in Room No.105 of the Tonle Sab Guesthouse, No.4-6, Street 104, Village 8, sangkat Wat Phnom, khan Daun Penh.

According to the article the victim was addicted to (legal) drugs (medicines).

On October 4 2016 a waiter, working at the guesthouse, didn’t notice the victim for having breakfast/dinner.
He/she knocked on the victim’s door but there was no response. Afterwards he/she looked through the window and saw the victim dead, lying in a pool of blood.
The room was closed and secured with a door lock (door chain lock or bar latch).
The door was also blocked (barricaded) with a suitcase. (ទ្វារត្រូវកល់វ៉ាលីពីខាងក្នុង; កល់= to place in an elevated position, elevate by means of a wedge; to support; to block)
There was a small kitchen knife found near the victim’s left hand. The police noticed 7 lacerations on the left arm.

The police concluded that the victim died of bleeding out.

Sihanoukville: 80YO German Alf Seehaus died at the Provincial Hospital.

On September 30 2016 at 9.20AM police experts received the information that a foreigner died at the Provincial Referral Hospital which is located in Group 6, Village 4, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville.

The victim has been identified as ALF Seehaus, male, German national, born on November 2 1935 (81YO).

According to preliminary reports the victim entered the hospital on September 24 2016 at 12.20 (AM or PM) because he lost consciousness (ដោយសារអាការះសន្លប់បាត់ស្មារតី) until the morning of September 30 2016 when he died.

According to the examination (performed by) a skilled doctor the victim died of a broken blood vessel in the brain. (bleeding in the brain)

The victim’s corpse has been laid out at the Provincial Referral Hospital awaiting a decision from the embassy.

Sihanoukville: 77YO French Michel Andre Aubin died at home.

The police reported that an elderly foreigner died in his house in Group 2, Village 1, Sangkat 1, Sihanoukville. (behind the Provincial Department of Industry and Handicraft)
The victim was identified as Michel Andre AUBIN, born on 15/01/1939, French national, retired.
According to a female friend, identified as the 36YO Khmer Chin Samon (ជិន សាម៉ុន):
On September 28 2016 at 7PM the victim didn’t feel well (blood in urine) and suffered an obstruction (difficulty breathing) (ថប់ដង្ហើមម្តងទៀត) too. He was sent to CT Clinic (គ្លីនិក សេតេ) to rescue his life.
At 10PM (same day) he was carried/moved home again. (ក៏បានដឹកត្រឡប់មកផ្ទះវិញ)
In the morning of September 29 2016 at 8.30AM, when ready to move the victim to a hospital in Phnom Penh, he suddenly had problems breathing (suffocation) again and died.
An examination of the victim’s corpse by the deputy chief of the provincial health administration revealed that the victim died of a disease/illness.

Phnom Penh: 55YO Swiss Balz Urs Hammer found dead at riverside Suites.

On September 19 2016 at 1.45PM at Riverside Suites Hotel, No1Eo, Street 144, Village 4, sangkat Phsar Kandal 1, khan Daun Penh a 55YO Swiss tourist identified as BALZ URS HAMMER, DOB 09/02/1961, died.
No noticeable scars were found on the victim’s body.
The victim checked in in room No.202 on September 12 2016.
The hotel staff didn’t notice the victim come downstairs so they went upstairs to knock on the door of his room but there was no response and they went downstairs again
After a while they went upstairs to call him again but there was still no response.
They took a card to open the door and found him the victim dead. The incident was reported to the authorities.
An examination revealed that the victim died of a heart attack. (possibly caused by a heart disease)

Sihanoukville: 48YO Indian Jakir Ali Mohammad found dead in his rental room.

On September 16 2016 around 10AM the corpse of an Indian man was found dead lying on a bed in a rental room in Group 9, Village 3, Sangkat 2, Sihanoukville.

According to the police:
The landlord has been identified as 65YO retired Khmer national Yum Dadi.
The victim has been identified as MOHAMMAD JAKIR ALI, male, Indian national, 48YO, DOB 01/01/1968, bed linen seller (លក មុ៉ងភួយ), holder of an EI-visa valid till 03/08/2017.

According to the landlord:
The victim started renting the room on 01/01/2014.
When friends of the victim brought him a visit they saw that the victim didn’t wake up so they knocked on the door and took a look through the window. After that they realized that the victim died.

Police experts, after performing an examination/biopsy, told that the victim died of a heart attack.

The corpse of the victim has been laid out at the place of the incident awaiting a decision from the victim’s family and the handing over to the embassy.
