Siem Reap: 17YO man kills 3 other young men in a love triangle.

Due to a love triangle and having grudge against another person, 3 people were killed to keep evidence covered up.

Siem Reap:
Due to jealousy the suspect stabbed a young man, his rival. The victim died on the spot. Subsequently the suspect also stabbed and killed 2 children to keep evidence covered up but eventually the suspect didn’t escape the law since the police caught him 7 hours after the incident.

According to the police from Angkor Chum District the incident happened after 12 o’clock [i](I guess lunch)[/i] on January 2 2016 on a trail (leading to a plantation) located in Phum Kook Phnov (​គោកភ្នៅ ), Khum Kook Phnov (​គោកភ្នៅ ), Angkor Chum District, Siem Reap Province.

The 3 victims are identified as:
1. Iang Suay (អ៊ាង សួយ), male, 8 years old, resident of Phum Kook Doong Thmey (គោក​ដូង​ថ្មី), Khum Kook Doong (គោក​ដូង​).
2. Meat Yea (មាឌ យ៉ា), male, 13 years old, resident of Phum Kook Trobaek (​គោក​ត្របែក), Khum Kook Doong (គោក​ដូង).
3. Mit Kanjea Hov Keat ( មិច កញ្ញា ហៅ ក្អាត់), male, 16 years old, resident of Phum Kook Trobaek (​គោក​ត្របែក), Khum Kook Doong (គោក​ដូង), Angkor Chum District, Siem Reap Province.
The suspect was identified as:
Choan Chen (ឈន់ ឆេន), male, 17 years old, resident in Phum Kook Doong (គោក​ដូង), Khum Kook Doong (គោក​ដូង), Angkor Chum District, Siem Reap Province.

The police added that before the incident the 3 victims were driving a black motorbike brand C125 2011, license plate Pailin 1A-6878, with the intention to harvest potatoes from a field in the forest. The suspect intercepted the victims and stabbed them with a knife. 2 victims died immediately on the spot. The 8 years old victim died on the way to the hospital. After the incident the suspect took the motorbike of the victims and hid it in the forest, 100 meter from the place of the incident to cover up the evidence.

The police added that after the incident they worked together to find the suspect and arrested him at 7PM on the same day.

The police added that the suspect confessed that he killed the 3 victims although he had only grudge against one of them (the 16 years old victim). The victim loved the same girl as he loved.

Sihanoukville: American national Croy James Robert found dead in the room of a rental house.

Foreigner found dead in the room of a rental house; death cause unknown.

Sihanoukville:
A foreigner was found dead in the room of a rental house but the dead cause is still unknown. The dead body was found in the morning of January 2 2016 in Group1, Phum3, Sangkat4, Sihanoukville.

Authorities identified the deceased as Croy James Robert, male, 74 years old, American national, passport number XXXXXXXXX, visa number XXXXXXXX, valid till June 6 2015.

According to the police the body of the deceased didn’t show any scars related to a murder. The same police has no idea about the cause of death.
2 other sources said that the victim died because of heart problems and exhaustion. Nobody knew and nobody helped.

Currently the corpse is kept in the morgue of the Provincial Hospital awaiting further instructions from the embassy.

Phnom Penh: 2 Korean men die after their wifes infused them with a serum.

2 Korean men die in a house after their wifes infused them with a serum.

Phnom Penh:
2 Korean men, more than 50 years old, died in the room of a house after they returned from drinking in the house of a friend. When they came home they felt hot and exited in their chest because they drank too much. This made their wifes, who are also doctor, take their blood pressure, inject medicines and infuse them with a serum.This led to a reaction resulting in the death of both men.

The incident already happened in the night of January 1 2016 but was only discovered on January 2 2016 at 1PM when the Korean Embassy informed the local police after receiving a telephone call from the wifes of both victims at 11PM on the same day.

The authorities identified both victims as Huong Chang, male, 56 years old and Mun Chol, male, 50 years old. Both are vendors having a business in Cambodia since many years already.

According to the wifes on January 1 2016 both husbands went drinking in the house of a friend. When they returned they felt hot and excited in their chest and started screaming and scratching their chest with their hands causing many cuts and bruises. When they noticed this they tried to help their husbands. They put one in the mezzanine, took his blood pressure (which was low), gave him 2 injections with a medicine and infused him with a serum. They put the other victim downstairs and they infused him also with a serum. Before both men suffered from stomach ulsters.

They added that after infusing both men with a serum they saw them sleep well. The next morning at 11AM both men suddenly died. This made the wifes very nervous. They didn’t report the incident to the local authorities. Instead they informed the embassy about this case.

Police officers from the post Buk Kok 2 [i](បឹ​ក​កក់​២; I guess Bung Kok 2)[/i] said that local authorities only received the news by 1PM on January 2 2016 after the South-Korean Embassy informed them. They immediately co-operated with the police experts and went to the house to find the 2 men dead with cuts on their chests, caused by fingernails. They didn’t make any final conclusions yet. As a first impression it can be concluded that both men died because of a reaction of the medicines injected by and the serum infused by their wifes. However, this is only a first impression and the experts are still doing research and a biopsy.

Phnom Penh: Body of dead woman found floating in the water in Daun Penh.

A body of a dead woman was found floating in the water in Khan Daun Penh.

Phnom Penh:
The body of a dead woman was found floating in the water in Khan Daun Penh on January 2 2016. Authorities conclude that it is a case of suicide.

According to the authorities from Khan Daun Penh the dead woman was identified as Sin Rasmey(ស៊ិន រស្មី), female, 21 years old and living in Srae Ambel Market.

The same authorities suspect that a conflict between the victim and her boyfriend on New Year led to her suicide.

Battambang: Tractor cultivating land runs over a landmine and explodes; one dead and one injured.

A tractor plowing land for planting crops runs over a landmine and explodes; one person dead and another person seriously injured.

Battambang:
At least one person died and another was seriously injured when their tractor, plowing land for planting cassava, ran over a landmine. This incident happened at 9:10AM on January 1 2016.

According to the local authorities: the dead person, who was driving the tractor, was identified as Hov Vit(សៅ វិត), 28years old, male.
The seriously injured person was identified as Sun Saen (ស៊ុន សែន), male, 27years old.
The tractor was completely destroyed.

Phnom Penh: Car collides with motorbike of foreigner.

A vehicle collides with a motorbike of a foreigners and drags the bike around 10 meters. 2 people were seriously injured.

Phnom Penh:
A foreigner and a Khmer were seriously injured because a vehicle collided with their motorbike and dragged the bike under the vehicle for around 10meters. This happened at 1:50AM on January 1 2016 at the intersection of Street294 with Street51 in Sangkat Bung Keeng Kong1, Khan Chamkarmon.

Before the accident, witnesses saw 2 people, one Khmer and one foreigner, driving a motorbike along Street51 from the north to the south. The foreigner was driving the motorbike Brand FTR, white color, license plate Phnom Penh 1BY-0951. When the motorbike reached the intersection suddenly a silver-colored Ford Ranger, license plate Phnom Penh 2AH-8577 and driving at a high speed along Street294 from the east to the west, collided with the motorbike and afterwards dragged it for around 10meters. The 2 people driving the motorbike were seriously injured. The driver of the car immediately left his vehicle to help the victims and told the bystanders to call an ambulance. The driver, who had blood of the victims on his shirt, told that he was going to change his shirt and disappeared.

Koon Kmer; a new concept was born.Dear Guest,

First of all I’d like to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2016!

Today is not only the start of a new year, but also the start of a new website or, as we call it, a new concept.
I can hear you thinking; “another website related to Cambodia?” Let me tell you that, unlike many other websites, it’s our aim to bring the news as experienced by Cambodians. What do they read in their local newspapers and what do they see on their local television channels? Which information do they exchange on their social media? In short, the pulse of Cambodia.
Whether we agree with others or not; there’s nothing more important than looking into someone’s mind, trying to understand someone prior to judge him/her, let alone try to change his/her opinions. This should be a lesson for both, immigrants (or expats if you like) and tourists.
It won’t be easy to create these insights by just publishing a couple of articles; there’s not only the language barrier but also the difference in interests between different generations, there’s the loaded history,… Each person is unique so we can’t bring an image as seen by a society by bringing the image as seen through the eyes of one single person. This concept needs some time and hopefully over the years it will lead to some interesting insights.

It’s our goal to bring the articles, posted on the website, as brought by the local (social) media. This doesn’t mean that they can’t be discussed, hence the implementation of a discussion board.

This concept is a first of its kind, which means that there’s still a lot of room for improvement. Technically and conceptually. Please share all your suggestions; by completing the form, by replying on the articles, by posting on the forum,…
