An elder American man was hit by a motorbike and died in a pool of blood when he returned from the circus, guiding a friend, left a tuk-tuk and crossed the street to buy beverages to take and drink at the hotel. The accident happend at 9.30PM on May 29 2016 in sangkat Svay Dangkum, Siem Reap city close to the place where the victim was living.
Mr. Chao Mao Vireak, deputy-chief of Immigration, under the Provincial Police chief, said that after receiving the information the Provincial Immigration Police together with the Provincial Traffic Police went to visit the place of the accident and check the body of the victim.
The victim was identified as Owens Robert Dean, male, 75YO, American national, tourist, holder of the passport XXXXXXXX expiring on March 12 2019, living at Villa Made mrei (must be Villa Médamrei), room 109, located in Vihear Chen village, sangkat Svay Dangkum, Siem Reap city. He arrived in Siem Reap on May 24 2016 via Siem Reap International Airport.
After the victim died in the traffic accident the police called the friend of the victim, identified as Roymond Sheridan, male, 70YO, American national, staying/living together with the victim, for questioning. He told the police that around 9.47PM on May 29 2016 he and a friend (the victim) returned from visiting a circus performance. Together they left the tuk-tuk bounding for the hotel. Then the victim crossed the street to go buy beverages to drink. At that moment he saw a motorbike, brand Duke with license plate Phnom Penh 1CF-9229, steered by an unidentified Khmer man, colliding with his friend from behind. The victim fell on the street, his body covered in blood, coming from his nose. He immediately died on the scene of the accident.
Currently the body of the the American victim is being held at Royal Angkor International Hospital awaiting a decision from the US embassy to be handed over to the family.
