Prey Veng: 63-year-old Australian Paul Schumann commits suicide by hanging.

A 63-year-old Australian man committed suicide by hanging. He is survived by his Khmer wife and 2 children.

The incident happened in the evening of December 25 2016 around 7.30PM in the victim’s house which is situated in Otdam village, Prek Krabau commune, Peam Chor district, Prey Veng province.

The victim has been identified as Paul Shumann, male, 67YO (must be 63YO), Australian, married to a Khmer wife identified as Khhuan Sreypov, 36YO. They had one son and one daughter.

According to the district police:
The victim committed suicide by hanging himself using a black nylon rope.
His visa expired on October 11 2017.

After the police received the information that someone committed suicide they immediately visited the incident scene. The victim suffered a physical illness.

Battambang: 71YO Australian Coless Geoffrey Malcolm found dead in Khemara 1 Hotel.

An Australian national died of a heart attack in a hotel.

Battambang

On August 30 2016 at 2PM a foreigner died at Khemara Battambang 1 Hotel which is located in village, sangkat Chomkar Chomrong, Battambang city, Battambang province.

According to the Municipal Police:
The victim was identified as 71YO Australian COLESS​ GEOFFREY​ MALCOLM​. He died on the floor of Room No241 in Khemara Battambang 1 Hotel.

According to a male co-traveller identified as 34YO Seng Hong:
The victim worked for the agricultural department of iDE (helping to promote/advertise communities in Cambodia) in Siem Reap province. He travelled to Battambang on August 29 2016 to attend a seminar at/with the University of Battambang.
On August 30 2016 the victim had lunch; afterwards he relaxed till 1PM. His co-traveller went to call him but didn’t hear a reply so he called the hotel manager to open the door. They entered (the victim’s room) and found the victim lying dead on the floor.

After the participation of the Royal Prosecutor and after a doctor performed an examination and biopsy the police concluded that the victim died of a ‘personal’ disease/illness. (heart attack)

Kampot: 24YO Australian tourist Kristy Anne Blackney drowns at Arcadia Backpackers.

The corpse of an Australian woman has been found floating in a small river/creek in Mak Prang commune (ម៉ាក់ប្រាង្គ), Tuk Chhou district (ទឹកឈូ).

On August 21 2016 at 10AM a foreign woman has been found by the owner of Aakhadia(r) restaurant (អាខាដៀរ; possibly Arcadia); the body was floating in the Mak Prang river in Snom 7 village, Mak Prang commune, Tuk Chhou district, Kampot province.

According to the district police:
The victim has been identified as Breny/Bolreni Christy Anny (ប្រ្លែនីីគ្រីស្ទីអាន់នី), female, DOB 03.5.1992, Australian.

The victim checked-in in the Akhadiar guesthouse where her corpse has been found on August 15 2016.

According to the Provincial Police on August 21 2016 at 2.48PM:
The victim drowned. Provincial police experts performed a biopsy and noticed that the victim drowned in the early evening of August 20 2016 but nobody realized it until the corpse was found by the owner of the restaurant and informed the police.

Sihanoukville: 69YO Australian Rory Angus Andrew Farquharson found dead in in his house.

An Australian man was spotted dead in his house; heart attack suspected.

On June 28 2016 at 9PM an Australian man was found dead in his house which is located in Sihanoukville’s sangkat 4. After an examination the police noticed that the victim possibly died of a heart attack.

The victim was identified as FARQUHARSON RORY ANGUS, male, married with Kumsan Srey Mal (គឹម​សាន ស្រី​មល) who was born in 1981 and working as a housewife.

The body was kept at the house (of the incident) awaiting a decision from the embassy and the victim’s family.

DOB 11/04/1947, Dundee, Australia.

The decomposing corpse of Australian man was found on the second floor of a rental house. It’s suspected that a drug overdose caused an heart attack.
He was found by the owner of the house located in Street 338, number 125E1, Group 22, village 5, second floor appartment, Sangkat Toul Svay Prey 2 (ទួល​ស្វាយព្រៃ​ទី​២), Khan Chamkarmon (ចំការមន), Phnom Penh, on February 23 2016 at 8.15PM.

He was identified as JONATHAN​ WiLLiAM​, male, 24YO, teacher at Western School (​វេ​ស្ទើ​ន) located in Sangkat Toul Svay Prey 1/Khan Chamkarmon (ចំការមន), living in Street 338, number 125E1, Group 22, village 5, second floor appartment, Sangkat Toul Svay Prey 2 (ទួល​ស្វាយព្រៃ​ទី​២), Khan Chamkarmon (ចំការមន), Phnom Penh.

The landlord was identified as Sum Sokuat (​ស៊ឹ​ម​ សុ​ខួច​), male, 36YO, living in street 338, number 125E1, Group 22, village 5, second floor appartment, Sangkat Toul Svay Prey 2 (ទួល​ស្វាយព្រៃ​ទី​២), Khan Chamkarmon (ចំការមន), Phnom Penh.

According to family of the owner:
Before the incident the Australian man, who’s a teacher at Western School located in Sangkat Toul Svay Prey 1/Khan Chamkarmon (ចំការមន),rented the house for almost one month. On February 20 2016 the landlord and his family went to visit Sihanoukville. They didn’t return yet but his younger sisters, living in the adjacent room, noticed a very strong and bad smell. They looked around/searched for a dead animal but they didn’t find. They (also) entered the room of the Australian man. They found his dead naked body. (ទាំង​អ​ក្រា​ត​កាយ)

After finding him dead, the relatives of the owner reported the police who intervened and did a biopsy. They found a syringe to inject drugs next to the body of the victim. After the biopsy they concluded that the victim already died 4-5 days ago and the incident was caused by injecting too much drugs which resulted in a fatal heart attack.

Siem Reap: Australian thief ADILRASHID JABER caught by police.

The suspect is ADILRASHID JABER, a 37YO man from Australia. He entered the country through Phnom Penh international airport coming from Bangkok. After that he travelled to Preah Sihanouk. There he already stole from the Belgian victim. Afterwards the victims returned to Siem Reap to live together again in the guesthouse mentioned before but each in a seperate room.

Phnom Penh: Australian ALICE UNWIN AUSTIN victim of a robbery.

Stole a mobile phone and escaped but immediately caught by PM.

2 robbers were arrested by the Military Police from Daun Penh on January 12 2016 at 2PM in Street 63, on the corner with Street 136, Sangkat Psar Thmey 1, Khan Daun Penh.

According to the police they arrested 2 suspects in a case of a robbery of a mobile phone from a foreigner.
The suspects are a 22 years old without a clear job (the robber) and a 24 years old without a clear job (the driver of the motorbike).
A black Honda Dream motorbike C125 and a black Iphone6 (the phone of the victim) were confiscated upon their arrest.

The victim of the robbery was identified as the 21 years old Australian national ALICE UNWIN AUSTIN.
According to the police, before the incident the victim was looking on her phone on the corner of Street 154 with Street 63.
Suddenly the 2 suspects, driving a black motorbike, approached the victim and took her Iphone6. After that the 2 suspects tried to escape on their motorbike along Street 19 from the North to the South. The victim screamed for help. Immediately the police who was patrolling intervened and followed the suspects till the corner of Street 136 with Street 63.
The suspects dumped their motorbike and tried to escape by entering Psar Thmey. One suspect threw the phone in a shop. The 2 suspects were arrested and transported to the police office.

The mobile phone was overhanded to the victim. The suspect will be sent to court.
