Phnom Penh: Australian WHITFIELD MARK JAMES found dead in room of Le Mont Hotel; heart attack.

Australian man lying dead in room No.704 of Le Mont Hotel.

Phnom Penh; On July 5 2017 at 10AM an Australian national died (was found dead) in room No.704 of Le Mont Hotel which is located No.196, corner of Street 143 and Street 304, Group 39, Village 5, Boeung Keng Kong 2 commune, Chamkar Mon district, Phnom Penh.

The victim has been identified as WHITFIELD MARK JAMES, a 33-year-old (must be 32) Australian male tourist, staying at room No.703 of Le Mont Hotel.

The victim and a friend, identified as Anthony Brian Falanga, a 27-year-old Austrlian male tourist, entered Cambodia through Phnom Penh International Airport on July 2 2017 and checked in in Le Mont Hotel around 5PM. The victim stayed in room No.703 and his friend (Brian) in room No.704.

On July 4 2017 both (friends) went out for eating; before returning to their hotel around 10PM they (together) drank around 12 cans of beer at an Italian restaurant/bar.

Both slept in room No.704; Brian swallowed sleeping pills because he is suffering from panic attacks (and) saw his friend (the victim) using drugs (powdery). The victim slept on Brian's bed and Brian slept on the couch until dawn.

On July 5 2017 around 10AM someone from the housekeeping department knocked on the door of room No.704 but nobody opened.
He/she called to the room but nobody picked up the phone.
There was (also) a 'please don't disturb' sign on the room's doorknob.
Eventually the hotel staff entered the room (with a key) and found the victim lying on the bed and Brian sleeping (snoring) on the couch.
The police was informed.

Police visited the scene and found WHITFIELD MARK JAMES lying dead on the bed.

A post-mortem examination ruled that the victim died of a heart attack.

Currently the victim's body has been kept at the morgue of the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital. (Russian Hospital).

DAP-news is reporting that the heart attack was most likely caused by a fatal morphine overdose (the victim most probably tested positive for opiates/opioids, often called morphines in Cambodia).
