A Korean man, working as a mechanical foreman, climbed (on a scaffolding) to check an air vent attached to the ceiling (but) fell down and broke his skull.
The accident happened on January 17 2017 in the basement of a 22-storey building under construction which is situated along Street 106 in Village 2, Wat Phnom commune, Daun Penh district.
The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Shim Kyobong, a mechanical foreman living in De Castle Royal in Boeung Keng 2 commune, Tuol Kork district.
The victim, together with some others, put scaffolding under an air vent in the basement of the building to check its functioning.
The victim took his (digital) camera to make some pictures of the installation.
After returning back down (they/the victim) noticed that the pictures weren't clear so the victim alone climbed on the scaffolding again but fell from a height of 5m on the concrete floor which resulted into a broken skull.
He was sent to Calmette Hospital in a serious condition and succumbed to his injuries at 2.30PM on the same day.
