Young factory worker strangled to death and robbed at Munikar guest house; killer on the run.

Postby Loy9 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 4:52 pm

The incident happened on the evening of August 2 2017 around 7.30PM at 'Munikar' (possibly Monica or Monika) guest house located on Street 460, Group 22, Village 4, Tuol Tumpung 1 commune, Chamkar Mon district, Phnom Penh.

Police identified the victim as Ey Sokha, a 26-year-old factory worker living in Koh Norea village, Niroth commune, Chbar Ampov district, Phnom Penh together with her parents.

According to the victim's father:
On August 2 2017 around 9AM the victim's mother instructed the victim to go exchange 40USD into Khmer currency to repair a broken 'machine'. The victim left on a black Honda Dream 2016-series (Phnom Penh 1FT-1723).
Around 7PM the father of the victim tried to call his daughter but it was the police who picked up her phone and told him that his daughter had been found strangled to death in a guesthouse.

According to the guest house's owner:
On August 2 2017 around 1PM a man rented a room. Not much later the victim arrived on her motorbike.
Later that afternoon the man, holding the key of the victim's motorbike, said that he was leaving to buy something to eat. The owner of the guest house thought that the man and woman knew each other well, didn't ask too many questions and allowed him to leave.
But the man didn't return.
Later that day housekeeping passed the room, noticed that it (the door?) was open/unlocked and found the victim dead.

According to the local authorities:
The suspect (the article says 'boyfriend' of the victim but it's not clear if they mean fiancé) persuaded the victim to have sex with each other before killing the woman and stealing her motorbike and money.
Police found 2 used condoms in the room.

The woman was set to marry in December 2017.

(KOH is giving more details; will have a look at them later tonight)
