Siem Reap: Chinese girl (9) drowns in Lin Ratanak Angkor hotel pool.

The incident reportedly happened on Saturday (?; see later) evening at Lin Ratanak Angkor hotel in Group 7, Slok Raam village/commune, Siem Reap city.

Police identified the victim as Meng Lina, a 9-year-old Chinese tourist.

A 19-year-old lifeguard (on duty between 2PM and 2AM) told the police that on July 21 2017 around 7.10PM he noticed a European man and his child having a swim. He went to check the spa on the first floor. 10min later he went downstairs (to the swimming pool) again. He passed the swimming pool on his way to the bathroom but didn't notice the girl. On his return from the bathroom he found the girl face down at the bottom of the hotel pool. He and some other people tried to rescue the young girl by performing CPR but the victim didn't regain consciousness.

The victim was sent (on board of a car of the hotel) to the Apsara Angkor Hospital where she was refused. Same situation at the Piphop Rasmey (hospital?).
Doctors of the Royal Angkor International Hospital pronounced her dead on arrival.

Currently the victim's body is being held at the morgue of the Royal Angkor International Hospital.

Another source is reporting that the incident happened on the evening of Saturday July 22 2017.

It is also reported that (according to the police) the hotel owner tried to cover up the incident.
